Effects of Peptidoglycan and Polyinosinic: Polycytidylic Acid on the Recombinant Subunit Vaccine Efficacy Against <i>Edwardsiella tarda</i> in Japanese Flounder <i>Paralichthys olivaceus</i>

The protective effects of a subunit vaccine, recombinant protein Edwardsiella tarda glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate dehydrogenase (Rec) combined with peptidoglycan (PGN) and polyinosinic:polycytidylic acid (polyIC), against edwardsiellosis in Japanese flounder Paralichthys olivaceus were investigated to evaluate an adjuvant property pathogen-associated molecular patterns. ?By injection the mixture plus polyIC (Rec + PGN Rec IC, respectively), interleukin-1? interferon (IFN)-? mRNA levels upregulated comparison phosphate-buffered saline (PBS). ?In addition, type I IFN was induced IC group. ?Although antibody titers increased not only injected group but also groups, values slightly higher lower than those group, respectively. ?After challenge test E. tarda, showed survival rate PBS whereas rates groups ?Furthermore, bacteria reisolated from 1 out 16 survivors ?These results suggested that might be candidate for vaccine intracellular bacterial infection.
